Summer Runs

Join like-minded Doddlers for our Tuesday Summer Runs, our social running highlight of each week throughout the summer. You’ll find like-minded company, spectacular scenery and food options to round of the evening.
These runs are organised by different club members each week in a variety of locations. They are great social occasions and we get to run through some beautiful Dorset countryside and coastal trails.
We start once the clocks change and enjoy these get-togethers all the way through until the end of September. Typically, we meet at 7pm for a 7.15pm start, or slightly earlier in April and September. There will be a choice of two or three distances to suit runners of various abilities, ranging from about 4 to 9 miles. We also welcome walkers and well behaved dogs.

Our Recent Summer Runs
21st July (Run 17) – Thanks to Lucy, Cormack and Martha for organising a lovely Giant run from Cerne Abbas. We even got to see the Giant and enjoyed a post race meal at the Giant Inn.
7th July (Run 15) – Thanks to Dave B for organising this glorious evening run along the coast at Worth Matravers. Dave could not join us but a small gathering of runners and walkers enjoyed a run, walk, swim and even a picnic afterwards.
30th June (Run 14) – Thanks to Jane Feather for organising her very first summer run, I don't think the Doddlers have ran as a group in Zeals before. Shame about the weather, everyone got soaked and the picnic was abandoned.
23rd June (Run 13) – Thanks to Damian for organising his run from Fontmell Magna. It was an extremely hot summer run, temperatures near the 30°. Lynda and Christine provided water and jelly babies at the top of the hill.
We also enjoyed a very good meal in the Fontmell, who opened up especially for us.
16th June (Run 12) – Thanks to John and Chris for organising a run from their home in Sturminster Newton. Thanks also to Peter for providing a Waterer station in Bagber.
We had a very big turn out of runners but unfortunately there was an incident with a runner and a few horses, so please be careful when running in through fields that contain livestock.
9th June (Run 11) – Thanks to Chris & Sarah for organising a lovely run from their farm in Okeford Fitzpaine, a few of us stayed for a very cold picnic afterwards.
2nd June (Run 10) – Thanks to Laura for organising her first summer run. It was a lovely run all around Chettle. Sarting and finishing at the Chettle Village Shop, where afterwards we enjoyed delicious pies and pasties. Thank you for the photos.
26th May (Run 9) – Thanks to Lucy for a very nice hot run around Pimperne, completely different temperature than the week before.
19th May (Run 8) – Thanks to Jon for a lovely run from The Queens Head in Broad Chalke. A cold start but we soon warned up once we started running. Food was brilliant in the pub as usual, just look at the size of that pie!
7th April (Run 2) – Another great turnout for Justin's summer run from Blandford. It was a lovely warm evening running around Bryanston Estate. Afterwards some of the runners enjoyed a meal at the Crown.

31st March (Run 1) – Thanks to Lynda for organising our first summer run from Shroton. We had a beautiful evening and enjoyed stunning views from the top of Hambledon Hill. Some of us enjoyed a lovely meal at the Cricketers. More photos on our Club Facebook page.
