Club Survey

Thankyou to everyone who has completed the club survey so far, if you have not yet had a chance to do it then please try and do so – your chance to tell us the things you enjoy most and the things you feel we need to work on/include (we would love to hear your thoughts any other time too). The link to the survey is here. It doesn’t take long to complete. This will be closing on the 20th September so that the data can be collected and discussed at the next committee meeting on 1st October.

The Stickler - 25th October

The next major race the club organises is The Stickler, this year on Sunday 25th October. Now in its 31st year, the Stickler is a 10.1-mile trail race with over 1,500ft of climbing, also known as Dorset 3-Peaks - Stickle path up Okeford Hill, Hod Hill and then Hambledon Hill. It's a fantastic race with over 500 runners and a unique finish on the platform of Shillingstone Station.

As with all the races we put on as a Club, we need plenty of volunteers to help make it happen. We need help with the following roles:

* Saturday 24th October at 10.30 for 2-3 hours, meet at Shillingstone Church Centre - help setting up registration HQ, signage and putting out signs.

* Sunday 25th October at 8.00 before the race at Shillingstone Church Centre - help at registration, parking, putting out signs and water stations.

* Sunday 25th October from 10.15/11.00 for 1.5 to 3 hours marshaling on the race route.

We certainly encourage members to run the race, but if you are able to help with the first couple of above roles, it would be much appreciated. Thank you to those who have already volunteered.

If you (or your family or friends) can help and would like to be involved, please contact Adam or Angela Frampton, who are the Race Directors at: director@thestickler.co.uk

For more details regarding volunteering at the Club, please see here.

Sturfit Games Night (Social)

We are hoping to put together a team (or two) for a social games night at Sturfit on the evening of 24th October. If you are interested in taking part then please get in touch with Roger (roger@dorsetdoddlers.org). A bit on the event follows:

You don’t need to be part of a club or group to join in. We’ll be putting teams together so that everyone can take part, whether you want to play, referee a game, or simply come along and cheer everyone on. We will have up to 12 teams of 6-10 people.

Please help us spread the word and encourage friends, family and local groups to come along and support this fundraiser.

What are we raising money for?

The funds raised will help us host a bouncy castle fun day over Christmas for local children.

Our aim is to raise enough to cover the cost of the bouncy castles, giving local children a fun and memorable day over the festive period.

Come along, have some fun, meet new people and support a great local cause!
