What's on the course and a few rules

We all want you to enjoy the race so on your way around on the course you will find plenty of water, fun and helpful and amusing marshals!

Don't forget you must be 17 and over to run the half marathon and over 13 for the 5K.

Due to Dorset Road Race Rules dogs are not permitted to run in this race.

The routes… will be marshalled by volunteers from the Blackmore Vale Lions Club, the Doddlers and friends, and residents around the course.

This is a road race… The marshals will warn traffic, but we have no right of way over cars, tractors etc - so please take care and follow instructions from the marshals. Unless otherwise directed, run on the LEFT HAND SIDE of all the main roads.

bramleyThis year we are an EARPHONE FREE RACE

Last year we had an incident where a young girl wearing earphones could not hear the traffic around her and was clipped by a car. She was ok but we want you to enjoy this race safely, so please do not wear your ear/headphones – you may also be disqualified if we see you wearing them! Thank you.

The course is quite narrow in some points so it is not suitable for wheelchair athletes and there is a time limit of 3 hours.

Water and sponge stations… as usual there will be plenty – so if it is a hot day please use them to avoid suffering from dehydration. Also, don’t forget to make sure you are well hydrated before the start!

The day is normally (apart from 2012), a very hot one, so consider wearing loose clothing and a hat to keep you cool. Another tip is to keep moving after you finish the race and have a drink and something to eat soon afterwards. That doesen't mean going straight to the Beer tent!

After race massage… we have a team of Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) 5th year students coming along to the race to offer you an after race massage.
